If You:

  • aspire to travel and work abroad in a new country (Canada)

  • are interested in working with children or a career in childcare

...then being a Nanny Academy Au Pair might be right for you!

Through youth mobility agreements and arrangements between Canada and many countries around the world, you can realize your dream by obtaining a Working Holiday Visa to travel to Canada and work for up to one year (or more as permissible by your resident country). Toronto is among the top hotspots in Canada to work and travel, a great city that boasts cultural diversity with lots to offer in terms of its many unique attractions, neighbourhoods, points of interest and year-long special events. Gain valuable work experience in Canada with long-term benefits.

Placement:

Nanny Academy offers the opportunity for a cultural exchange experience based on childcare by matching qualified international live-in Au Pairs to local families living in the Greater Toronto Area. The hosting families we recommend have all passed our screening and eligibility requirements and have agreed to follow labour laws on wage, working conditions and occupation. You and the hosting family will mutually agree on terms of placement after getting to know each other over a few virtual meetings. As a live-in Au Pair, you will be provided a private bedroom in the hosting family’s home where the childcare is provided according to arrangements as negotiated. Unlike a live-in nanny / caregiver, you will be treated as an equal (the meaning of “au pair”) and an extended family member (not an employee). Your responsibilities will be childcare-related duties and light household chores only, and should not be mistaken as a housekeeper or servant. It may also be possible for you to work part-time or full-time while staying in Canada depending on other goals.   As there is an annual quota in the number of international youth permitted to participate in the cultural exchange program, spacing for Au Pair placements will be limited.

Benefits as Nanny Academy Au Pair:

Nanny Academy is a unique company because we go the distance to offer the best experience possible and support our au pairs every step of the way. Besides the great international work experience, being a Nanny Academy au pair offers many benefits:

Personal Development

On top of the training and orientation provided once you are matched with a family, it may be possible to plan for arrangements to take an interest or professional course during your personal time with your employer.

Being out of your comfort zone working in a new country for a new family sparks new perspective, learning and experience. A career in caregiving will grow your maturity, sense of responsibility, patience and compassion. It is amazing how much can be learned through a child’s world as they learn through you.

Income

Canadian labour laws and employment standards are above average in comparison to many other countries, along with a fair tax system. You can expect a competitive income, which helps to fund your travel expense. See FAQ for more details.
